Journaling Power: Four Cornerstones of Balance

I am a firm believer that balance of life is important. As I have written in previous articles, those life areas for me are my four cornerstones – physical, spiritual, financial, and emotional. If you are balanced, you are actively paying attention to yourself and your goals in these important life areas. Would you agree that if these areas are critical to your balance of life, the basis of how you should journal should line up with these areas.

To assist you in establishing your plan goals, answer the questions below in your journal.

What are your activities and eating/intake goals?

It is important to have regular physical activity and a good healthy balanced diet. How will you accomplish being your healthiest you?

What uplifts your human spirit or soul?

Spirituality includes a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in life. What actions or activities give you meaning?

Where are you on the 50/30/20 rule?

A basic rule of thumb for managing finances – 50% (max) in necessities/30% discretionary/20% savings. What is your financial plan that overtime helps you master the rule?

What makes you feel great about you?

This category includes everything that potentially impacts how you feel about yourself. What actions or activities make you feel great about how you look and feel?

Remember, your balance of life should be nurtured. Use your journaling exercise to monitor your progress, as well as, to identify where adjustments should be made.
